Where to go, what to see and how to get there in the first place! Summer and winter activities. In a state as large as Alaska, choosing a vacation destination can be daunting. Unless you have a month or more for your visit, strategic planning is helpful.

Alaska History:
Everything from our native heritage, early European explorers, to the gold-rush era and even the naming of our National Parks. Alaska is alive with history and a lot of it will surprise you.

Flora and Fauna:
Alaska has abundant and unique wildlife, and even more in the way of flowers and plants. With such varied geographic regions; the animals regularly seen in one region may be totally absent in another. A flowering plant towering five feet tall in the Kenai Peninsula might be six inches in height when found in the tundra near Fairbanks.

Places to visit:
Take a quick peek at some of the most popular places to visit in Alaska. Our vast number of National Parks are just a starting point. Towns and cities such as Anchorage, Fairbanks, Valdez, Seward and Homer top the lists of places to go because of all the outdoor activities and scenic tours available; including wildlife, glaciers, fishing and more.

With my newsletter, I'll try to cover a myriad of topics. I would also love to hear ideas from my readers, so if you have a specific area or activity you are interested in, or want more information about travel times from location to location or the best means of travel to an out of the way destination, please ask! Do we have Musk Ox in Anchorage? No (except in the Alaska Zoo!), but it’s not unheard of to see moose or possibly even bears in town! Can you drive to Nome? Nope, but it’s still a great place to visit and there is a great story behind how the town was named.
