Book Marketing with ScreenFlow - Planning
This video project tutorial is for making a marketing video for a book entitled Book Apps with Kwik. Because the book is about creating book apps, a screencast of a sample book app will be part of the video.
Brand Animation Bumper - Short
In this tutorial, we will create the brand animation bumper which can be used in many ways such as the beginning or ending of a book trailer, training video and other types of video marketing. The product we are marketing is my series of DIY ebooks for creating and marketing book apps.
Brand Animation in ScreenFlow - Planning
Branding is very import to your marketing plan and, as we all know, most authors must do most of their own marketing. One technique that is used often in marketing trailers is a reusable opening animation, sometimes called a bumper or intro.

Review ScreenFlow by Telestream
ScreenFlow by Telestream has been my go-to screen capture software since I switched to a Mac. The main reason for this is the intuitive user interface, flexibility and, now with version 4, retina display HD recording. You can make anything from slide shows to training videos.
ScreenFlow Annotations and Nested Clips
In the last tutorial, you learned how to add text to a marketing video short and build the company logo with a combination of text and an imported logo graphic. We can use ScreenFlow’s Annotations feature to draw the line under the company name and complete the logo.
ScreenFlow Interface
One of the reasons that I like to use Screenflow is the simple, uncluttered user interface. ScreenFlow has three major sections to the interface, which are the Canvas, Timeline and Properties Panes.
ScreenFlow Preferences
Before you begin you screen cast project, you will want to set the ScreenFlow preferences. ScreenFlow has an intuitive user interface but you still have a few options that you can customize.
Trim Video in ScreenFlow
After you’ve captured your video, the next step is to trim away those sections not wanted in the final project. A software that I use for this is ScreenFlow by Telestream Inc. It’s easy to use and therefore you get the job done quickly. ScreenFlow is a screencasting and screen recording software.
Using Text in ScreenFlow
In the last tutorial, we used the masking technique to draw a curved line onto the canvas and sequenced that with the entrance of the mouse character. Let’s add the subtitle to the canvas with the ScreenFlow Text tool.
