The majority of hypothyroid and hyperthyroid disorders are autoimmune in nature, meaning they result from auto-antibodies attacking the thyroid gland.

Autoimmune Disorders and Gluten Intolerance star
Gluten Intolerance and/or Celiac Disease can cause several autoimmune disorders, including Hashimoto's and Grave's Disease. Avoiding gluten can lessen the symptoms associated with these disorders and can even cause an improvement in thyroid function. I share my personal experience with gluten.

Hashimoto's Disease star
Hashimoto's Disease is an autoimmune disorder. The body creates cells which attack the thyroid gland as in invader, causing damage to the thyroid and leading to symptoms of hypothyroidism. It is important to initiate a protocol for treating this disorder early to prevent on-going damage.
