Thank you for welcoming Irish Culture online into your Inbox! We share a common interest in the Irish culture.
I was so interested in Irish culture that I hitched my wagon to an Armagh man's star! We moved back to Ireland in 2001. Each of the articles are now written from the island of Ireland where, as well as writing, I lead tours and guided walks in the magical spot we made home.
As I tap this out on my laptop I can see a donkey in a the field beside ours. But I can also tell you that the field is owned by a man who recently became a You Tube sensation. Some pundits have been known to muse that Ireland leaped from the 19th century straight to the 21st century. There is some truth in that observation.
For many readers who trace family roots to Ireland you will be reading and researching background to your family history. Ireland has plenty of heritage, ancient customs and traditions. There is layer upon layer of history. There are several versions of that history. All those nuances get stirred into an Irish stew whose recipe will never be definitive. (Granny Cuckson's recipe included a packet of Erin dried minestrone soup mix. Go figure!)
Irish culture is also about what is timeless. For those of you fortunate enough to visit this island you will appreciate what I mean by the timeless quality that marches along with contemporary adaptations. It can be bewildering, bewitching and beguiling. I hope I'll settle some of your questions and clear some of the puzzlement in our online forum, too.
I hope you will be surprised by what you find in these articles. We have fairies and Google Europe HQ in contemporary Ireland after all!
