Mickey Marquez is passionate about the links between food and culture and always explores places first by way of food. She believes the best bridge from one culture to the next is via food. She started traveling at an early age making frequent trips to Mexico with her parents. Such trips were seeds for a love of travel and adventure. She is most at home when crossing borders — culinary or geographic.

Mexican food and culture is particularly cherished by Mickey. She lived, studied and travelled the country extensively and traces her Mexican roots in Durango, Mexico back to the early 1700’s.

In addition to Mexico, Mickey lived in Peru and Greece. More recently, she and her husband explored the rich food cultures of France, China, Mexico and the USA through in-country instruction.

Mickey currently divides her time between Boston, Massachusetts, Los Angeles, California and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She is always willing to share her local intel on the food scenes of those cities — don’t hesitate to be in touch with her if you plan to visit one of her stomping grounds.
