About the BellaOnline Indian Food Editor
Sadhana Ginde
Namaste,
I was born in England and raised in the good old US of A, but my soul and spirit are completely Indian. Most of my childhood summers were spent in India; soaking up the culture and traditions of my ethnic heritage, creating beautiful memories that would follow me through my adult life and I would cherish forever.
I was blessed to grow up in a family where everyone was an excellent cook. One of my fondest childhood memories include sitting around the traditional Indian kitchens of my relatives completely fascinated by the flurry of culinary whirlwind activity occurring around me. It was like a beehive; my older cousins would be busy preparing exotic fruits and unique vegetables, some of which I had never seen before. My aunts would be busy chopping, mixing, frying and cooking with old world utensils using age old, time honored cooking methods. My grandmother cautiously supervising everything while providing helpful suggestions. The smell of delicious aromatic spices would fill the air and waft throughout the house. A veritable feast was being prepared amidst all the chatting about family, friends, recipes and life in general. It was absolutely mesmerizing and I was hooked. My summer vacations in India were all about family and the bonding that took place over lovingly prepared meals.
I would love to share that precious little piece of my childhood with you. My love of Indian food and my recipes are not only a journey through the Indian culinary world but also a tribute to the women who came before me and had such a strong influence in my life.
So I encourage you to join me on this wonderful experience. I welcome all of your ideas, suggestions and comments so please feel free to send me an email. Don’t forget to sign up for the Indian Food Newsletter and tell your friends and family.
Thanks and Enjoy!
