Children's TV
I am a stay- at- home mom (SAHM) living in Randallstown, Maryland. I have five children: two boys and two girls at home, and one daughter who lives in heaven. There is a 10 year gap in my kids’ ages; thus, I had a very different life up until I became a SAHM several years ago.

I chose to stay at home primarily to homeschool my oldest son, who was having social and emotional difficulties at school. I was also pregnant at the time with baby number three, so that worked out well. My oldest daughter joined us at home the following year. Thus, I am a homeschooling SAHM. Before that, I taught abstinence to middle and high-school aged kids under a federal abstinence program.

Prior to teaching abstinence, I worked as a middle school science teacher in both public and private schools in Baltimore. My B.S. degree is in physics, and I double-minored in chemistry and mathematics. I like to joke that I made being a geek look good! Immediately upon graduation but before teaching, I worked as a research assistant doing all types of physics- related stuff which, unless you are deeply familiar with the subject, won’t make much sense so I won’t bother going into details. Suffice it to say that while it was interesting, it wasn’t where I wanted to be, hence the shift to teaching.

I truly love spending time with my children at home; I recognize that this time will be very brief and pass in what seems like an instant. I also enjoy helping other moms engage and enjoy their children. Writing is my passion, and to that end I also write for examiner.com.

Because I spend so much time with my children at home, we watch TV together. I’ll admit, there are many kids’ shows that I find quite entertaining and funny! I believe that children’s TV should be age appropriate and engaging, and my mission as the children’s TV editor will be primarily to examine and share content that is worthy of viewing and not harmful to kids. Currently, some of my favorite kids’ shows are: “Sofia the First” and “Doc McStuffins” (for the little ones) and “SpongeBob” and “Victorious” (for the tween/teen).
