Creativity is wonderful! I believe that when children are creating – even if it makes a huge mess – they are experiencing life at its fullest!
I have six children and we lived all over the world. Spending time around the table creating was always quality time. Spending time in nature gathering objects to use in our crafting was quality time. Saving cardboard tubes and boxes, lids and do-dads helps the environment and when we know we can repurpose those items into gifts, crafts and other fun items it makes children happy.
Learning how to make gifts for others is a wonderful talent. It helps children think about the person they are making the gift for while they are creating and they come to show greater love for that person.
Crafting throughout the seasons and for holidays provides some wonderful opportunities to spend time together. It is ok if it is messy – teach them to clean up after crafting and to take good care of the supplies so they can spend more time once again making wonderful items.
Fiber crafts, pioneer crafts, educational crafts and nature crafts are all so much fun. Painting projects and spending time crafting in the kitchen allows for special time with your children. Enjoy them, for they grow up so fast.
I currently have 12 grandchildren – ages 19 down to 7 years old. Every time we have the opportunity to get together they know we will be crafting or creating yummy treats in the kitchen.
I believe that “when you care enough you make it yourself.”
