About the BellaOnline Allergies and Colds Editor
Sheree Welshimer
Sheree Welshimer has had a variety of occupations, including newspaper reporter and teacher. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism/education and started out working as a reporter for several daily newspapers. Along the way, family altered her choice of jobs. She became an elementary teacher for a number of years to work more “normal” hours while her children were growing up.
Even as a teacher, the “old reporter” was always lurking there. She taught her students how to interview, ask questions and produce a classroom newspaper. She continued to write articles on health issues for her local newspaper. She left teaching due to health issues and returned to her “journalistic roots” through freelance writing.
Sheree’s husband dubbed her the “canary” years ago because she, like the yellow birds, is highly sensitive to chemicals and pollution in the environment. Sheree has become an allergy/colds expert as she has looked for ways to manage her own environmental and food allergies. Idaho is home to Sheree and her husband who are avid cyclists. With an arsenal of allergy information, she has been able to keep her allergies at bay on her bicycling adventures.
