Architecture of Renaissance Cathedrals
Renaissance architecture began first in Florence, Italy in the early 1400's and spread to the rest of Europe over the next 125 years. Some of the first, and arguably best, examples of this architectural style can be seen in the Cathedrals of the Renaissance.

Unlike the Gothic style of religious edifices which had a strong vertical movement, the Florence Cathedral emphasized a horizontal movement which was prevalent in Italy, particularly in the Renaissance.
