Give Thanks
As we go through our daily lives, the Bible says that we are to give thanks for all things.
Ephesians 5:20
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are all types of dangers that we are confronted with each and us every day. This starts when we wake up and begin our daily chores including preparing for work and/or getting kids ready and dropping them off to school or daycare and rushing to get to work. Additional chores include running errands, preparing meals and doing chores in and around the house that keeps our lives working on a routine basis. We seek to find enjoyment, relaxation and some entertainment along the way. At any time things can go awry quickly from car accidents, damaging storms, layoffs and sickness that can create havoc in our lives and change the status quo. In these difficult times we have to remember to give thanks for all the blessings we have including life itself.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We have to guard our heart and mind to stand on God’s word and not start to feel sorry for ourselves by giving thanks for what we do have. Thanking God for everything starting with the opening of our eyes in the morning and everything that God has provided for us. If you have a job that you really don’t like, be thankful that you have one as there are other’s that don’t and would be grateful for yours. If you are sick, be thankful to God for life and praying for healing.
We often take a lot of things for granted that we shouldn’t because it is all by God’s grace. Take time to thank God as you continue to pray and seek His guidance to fulfill your purpose. Look around you and usually you don’t have to look far to see others who appear to be less fortunate than you. Use this to remind you how blessed you are but also think about how you can be a blessing to others.
