Kristin Hannah novels are always good reads for a lazy day. The stories don't suck you in to the point where you can't put it down for one second but the stories catch you so you have to know what is going to happen to the characters you get easily attached to throughout the story.

Elizabeth Shore aka "Birdie" realizes one day that her life is not all it is cracked up to be. She and her husband,Jack Shore, married young. Jack hit the big time as an NFL star football player. His career sank with a knee injury the led to a drug addiction. Birdie was by his side through it all. His career has a chance to take off yet again and Birdie is not so sure she can move across country yet again to support her husband. They both realize after 24 years of marriage their relationship has hit an impasse. Jack can't say no to a second chance at his career but he can't say no to wanting his wife to be happy. Birdie stands her ground and tells Jack she can't uproot herself yet again to chase his dreams. She wants to chase her dreams. She loves her husband and their two wonderful kids but somewhere along the way she has lost herself.

We follow along and Elizabeth finds herself and we even get to see Jack's side of the story which is nice. The pacing of this story is slow but I think that is because Kristin Hannah really lets us dig into the thoughts and emotions of the characters. There are some really good side relationships that we get to watch grow as well throughout the story. This is not my favorite of Hannah's books but it is pretty good.
