Apple Cinnamon Cream of Wheat recipe
This recipe is a nice change from cold cereal for breakfast. It's quick to make and will provide you and your kids with the needed energy and proper nutrition to get through any cold Fall or Winter morning! Make extra for an easy reheatable breakfast throughout the week.
*INGREDIENTS for 1 single serving (larger serving information provided below):
1 & 1/2 cups water
one 4-ounce container no-sugar added, all-natural applesauce
a pinch of sea salt
1 tablespoon raw honey
1 teaspoon good quality ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons Cream of Wheat cereal, uncooked
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, almonds, or pecans
DIRECTIONS:
1) In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Turn heat down to simmer once boiling.
2) Add applesauce, sea salt, and honey to simmering water; Stir well.
3) Bring water and ingredients back up to a slow simmer; Add cinnamon, stir well.
4) Add Cream of Wheat to simmering mixture. Stir frequently and bring back to a slow simmer. Stir and simmer for 3 minutes. Turn of heat, and let mixture sit for 2 minutes.
5) Stir mixture well before pouring into a bowl to serve. Top with chopped nuts of your choice.
6) Be sure to eat a little protein with your cream of wheat hot cereal, such as 2 hard boiled or scrambled eggs. This will keep your meal balanced!

2 cups water
two 4-oz containers applesauce
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons raw honey
1 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons dry uncooked cream of wheat
1/4 cup chopped nuts
(*Cooking directions remain the same)
*INGREDIENTS FOR 4 SERVINGS of Apple Cinnamon Cream of Wheat:
4 cups water
four 4-oz containers apple sauce
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 cup raw honey
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup dry uncooked cream of wheat
(*Cooking directions remain the same)
*RECCOMENDATIONS FOR BULK COOKING STORAGE AND RE-HEATING:
Store this cooked recipe in a glass bowl with a non-metal lid. Do not use foil to cover bowl. Make sure the glass bowl has a tightly fitted plastic (preferable BPA-Free) lid. When ready to reheat, place amount needed in a sauce pan. Add a couple of tablespoons of water or milk to the sauce pan, and re-heat on low, stirring frequently. If cereal is still too thick, keep adding additional water or milk to the saucepan, and stir as needed.
