Ancient GPS

Ancient GPS
In my life, I've been lost several times. I've lost my way when driving in unknown territory or even familiar ground, after a wrong turn. One mistake in calculation has sent me far away from my destination.

In recent years, the development of GPS has saved me lots of time and many miles. Now, when traveling, its voice notifies me of every wrong turn and offers instructions to get back on course.

I would like to trust it completely when I put myself in its hands, but I know that sometimes there's a glitch in new technology. It may be outdated, or might have received poor information. I might have entered the wrong address. There is also the chance the batteries of my device or cell phone may die while I'm on the road, leaving me to wander on my own.

A search of the Internet brings up stories of tourists driving into the ocean or taking their car down a flight of steps, because their GPS directed them there. You can't trust GPS to be 100% accurate. No guidance from this world is that reliable.

The guidance system in my car or on my phone or handheld device is fairly new technology, but there is an ancient guidance system that has always been and will always be trustworthy. For keeping my life on track, all I have to do is tune in to God?s word and his Holy Spirit to receive his gracious guidance.

God's true word, in the Bible, is 100% accurate. He is faithful and true, and promises to work everything for the good of those who love him. (Romans 8:28)

For guidance that is always correct and always up to date, I?ll trust God?s word. It's good to know he won?t let me get lost. Whether it?s a trip to the grocery store or meeting a new friend, he?ll nudge me in the right direction.

A promise to remember:
"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left." Isaiah 30:21 ESV

My prayer today.
Lord, you have promised to never leave me. In this world, there are many wrong turns. But I am secure with the assurance that you direct my steps. Order my steps according to your word. (Psalm 119:133)
