People are Nice When You Are Nice
Meanness is a huge burden and responsibility. Look at the villains in books and movies. They are alone and in the dark and shunned. Sure, Disney might have created a quippy theme song for some of them. This tune might even have a nice beat. The reality is, however, mean people are sad, alone and desperately attempting to justify their deplorable actions.
Juxtapose the heroes. Very fun and usually happy, heroes are revered and appreciated because they do good deeds and help those in need of assistance. Disney also supplies the good guys with a few songs as well. Upbeat and enjoyable, the theme songs of a hero in a story parallel their happy disposition. Heroes and good people have the friends, family, cute little birds and forest creatures working together on their behalf.
So why are so many people so rude? When you frown, people around you are going to frown back at you. Smile and people will smile. Unless you crave a negative outcome, being mean has no upside.
Here is quote which exemplifies how important kindness is, while dismissing the sad option of being rude to others.
"Being rude is easy. It does not take any effort and is a sign of weakness and insecurity. Kindness shows great self-discipline and strong self-esteem. Being kind is not always easy when dealing with rude people. Kindness is a sign of a person who has done a lot of personal work and has come to a great understanding and wisdom. Chose to be kind over being right and you'll be right every time because kindness is a sign of STRENGTH." - Attitude to Inspiration
Do you really think the Kardashians - mean, sad, judgmental and pretentious are the heroes? They do this for their brand and the money and the fame. With the exception of their notoriety, there is no way Kim and Kanye find any joy in their deplorable behavior. If you had to pigeon hole most of the celebrities we see on reality TV, they aren't nearly as happy as their ratings are. Empty is more likely. If those on reality TV shows, Gordon Ramsey, etc., were to make a point to be consistently nice, they would be genuinely surprised that people are nice as well. They might also be out of a job since their follower seem to enjoy their antics.
Everyone reacts better, results and happiness result when you are first and foremost "nice". So seek out and upbeat attitude. Choose the hero route where you believe a "dream is a wish your heart makes." Smile. Sing a little song. Hold the door. Karma is real and nice people receive nice in return, because they deserve NICE.
