Bachelor fans the world over squealed over their popcorn and wine glasses when Arie Luyendyk proposed to Becca Kufrin. The pretty brunette seemed like a fairly good match for him, and Arie seemed fairly confident in his choice. However, I could already sense that all was not well in the lane of Neil Lane engagement rings.

To me, Arie always came off as someone who hugely enjoyed the attention of all the beautiful women vying for his attention (and really, what guy wouldn’t? Let’s be honest here). Behind his ice blue eyes he seemed to really lack sincerity, and although it was quite the low blow to humiliate Becca like that I do think he made a better choice in Lauren.

Lauren’s reserved personality seems to be a better fit for his limelight loving self, and as awful as it was that he dumped Becca, I am cautiously optimistic about this pairing. I do think Lauren should go into this with her eyes wide open; as it’s obvious that this man will callously cast off anyone who doesn’t seem to fit into his game plan.

As for now we shall have to wait and see if they are planning on a long engagement or if they really will elope in Vegas as they recently claimed in an interview. I think they are one of the more interesting couples, simply because of all the drama that this season has caused. Becca will find someone more suited to her, and hearing Arie describe their relationship as “lacking passion” has got to hurt. Ouch! Becca, you can do so much better, and I am sure there are many men knocking down your door as I write this.
