I was given an opportunity to try Wipe New, the Automobile/Boat/RV Restoration product on TV that says it will restore your plastic surfaces and moldings inside and outside your vehicle? Well, I tried it in and on my 2005 Nissan Maxima and I am very pleased with this product.

BE CAUTIOUS AND RESPONSIBLE WHEN USING WIPE NEW OR ANY CHEMICALS! Be sure to work in an airy environment to prevent inhalation of toxic fumes. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING WIPE NEW.

NOTE: If you have a dirty surface that you want to restore, clean it with the appropriate cleaner and let air dry before using any other chemicals. Always read your labels for safety.

I applied Wipe New to every plastic and leather area inside my entire vehicle. I applied it to the dashboard, steering wheel, door moldings and casings, Leather seats, head rests, speaker trim and every other plastic or leather area in my vehicle. I left the vehicle open to the air while using as the product has a chemical smell and I didn’t want to inhale any fumes. I would not recommend using Wipe New in an enclosed area. When Wipe New dried on my interior, it left an impressive semi-glossy coat on the surface of the leather. It is very appealing and looks just like they day I bought my car. On the down side, my car did have a bit of a residual chemical smell even after it dried but it cleared after a couple of days.

Next, I applied Wipe New to the exterior plastic of my car. I wanted to start with the headlights. The kit comes with a headlight oxidation pad but I didn’t use it. I did not find the Wipe New sponge to be effective. I purchased a special scrub sponge from an Auto store which I prefer to use on my headlights to prevent undue scratches. You use your best judgment when choosing what you want to use on your lenses. I used water at first to loosen and remove the excess oxidation but soon realized that just water wasn’t really what I wanted to use. I then added a couple drops Oxi Clean in the water bottle and it removed the oxidation much better and with less mess. I repeated this cleaning step until I was satisfied with my lens clarity. After the lenses were completely dry, I applied Wipe New to my lenses. My lenses looked much better but if you live in a humid region like I do, you may have to repeat the process again in a couple of weeks or so. I then applied Wipe New to the water well, wiper arms, window sills and grille plastic. You can use Wipe New under the hood and trunk as well including the painted surface under the trunk and hood to restore the finish. Wipe New will also help tp restore the rubber hoses and metal under your vehicle's hood but please use professional advice for safety.

I wish I could post a photo – my 2005 Maxima looks like the day I purchased it. Wipe New is an awesome product and you’ll be glad you tried it.

I was careful not to get Wipe New on any of the painted surfaces of my car. The instructions recommend the User should take care not to get Wipe New on your painted surfaces. If you do, wipe it off immediately with a clean microfiber towel. Please be careful.

While Wipe New declares its product will work for two years, my review was conducted from September 2012 through November 2012 and my vehicle’s plastic and Leather still looks amazing.
