As we go through our daily lives, there are times that we find ourselves in the middle of situations where we are not in full control. Sometimes this can be created by a bad decision, our involvement with family or friends that pulls us in to a situation or situations that are presented that seem to come out of nowhere. These are times that we would like to stay in the bed and pull the cover over our head but we can’t because that won’t help.
When the storms of life come at us we have to be able to stand strong on the word of God that says he will never leave us or forsake us. This is where the Christian faith is tested and strengthened in the midst of the storm. This is the time to read the Bible and believe in every word that if the miracles that were done in the past were real then His power has not been reduced.

One of the very well-known stories in the Bible is Mark 4:35-41

On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” .

Recently, I was on the highway and the sky opened up and rained poured down. In a matter of seconds, there was a whiteout and I couldn’t see the car in front of me nor the cars beside me or behind me. I instantly began to pray and in my spirit I heard “Peace be still” and the skies cleared and I could see again. I believed fully in the power of the Lord and asked that He protect me because there was nothing I could do. I couldn’t stop because the car behind me I knew couldn’t see me and I couldn’t pull over because I couldn’t see the side of the road. All I could do was trust and believe that God would hear my cry and answer and He did.

This is what Christians have to do in every situation, no matter how big or small, we have to stand strong in the storm standing on every word in the Bible. The storms allow us to build a stronger faith and strengthens our faith to know that God will be with us in every situation. This is why it is so important to read the Bible, to memorize scriptures and build a personal relationship which allows us to remain standing when others fall because of non-belief.
